Divorced and on a Budget?

November 21, 2008

Getting divorced can be expensive. If you find yourself looking for ways to save money on every ay items, you can do that by shopping at thrift stores and online. Michael Gold, one of the founders of TheThriftShopper.com, offers these tips for making the most of shopping at thrift stores:

1. Always look over every purchase.
Carefully to check its condition.  Check clothing for missing buttons, broken zippers, stains or rips.

2. Always bring cash.
Some stores don’t take check or credit card.

3. Bring the largest vehicle you can.
In case you find that perfect end table or other large item, you have room in the car to haul it home.

4. Comparison shop.
Your local thrift stores may sell regular items, like clothing and shoes, at a lower price.

5. Learn from others.
You can chat with other thrifters at TheThriftShopper.com forum to compare notes, determine if an item is worth the price and learn how to find great deals.

6. Take advantage.
If you spot an item you’re not sure about while you’re shopping, pick it up and carry it around with you, or it might be gone when you go back to find it.
